Intercutural Communication

When I first came to Singapore two months ago, I was experiencign culture shock.
The culture of Singapore and Hong Kong are really different.
First of all, their steps are so slow. In Hong Kong, people just walk as fast as they could because they all have different kinds of work to do in a day. 24 hours is certainly not enough. So everything must be " fast , fast and fast ". No one's gonna stop in the middle of the road. When you buy anything, the process is less than 2-3 mins. Especially when you go to a restaurant and have dinner, the dinner will probably be finished in 20 mins because once you order, they will serve your meal in 5 mins. However , in Singapore, people's steps are just relaxed. I lose my patient when I go to buy things in the supermarket, or even waiting for the bus. Somehow now I get used to it.
The other thing is the people likes to eat in a coffee shop in Singapore, which doesn't have aircorn. Because the food is in reasonable price there. In Hong Kong, most of the people eat inside a restaurant. It's not expensive though. You can also have reasonable price restaurants in Hong Kong. But in Singapore, many restaurants are rather expensive.
Also, the Japanese food in Hong Kong is a lot better than Singapore's. I've tried some sashimi in Singapore, but the taste is just below average. Until yesterday, I went to have dinner with my Japanese friend's parents in a Japanese restaurant near Raffles Place. I finally eat the avearge quality Japanese food. But, that comes to the point. It costs us $888! For such a big amount of money to enjoy a Japanes meal. I don't think it worths.
However, in Singapore I can try Indian food, which I seldom tried it in Hong Kong. And the chicken rice is good.
Of course, language is also one of the problems to me. I find very hard to understand Singlish at first. But now I can listen can even learn some of them from my friends.
I am still trying to adapt to the culture of Singapore and hopefully I can enjoy this city in the future.

This is a typical example of the disadvantage of using Instant Messenger. Your computer may easily affected by virus. I think everybody has this experience of virus in their computers. We always said that internet makes the world become better. However, sometimes it doesn't seem to be right. Internet crimes happen often and police cannot chase with the newest virus. What can we do is only using firewall to protect our computer. Especially WIFI is so popular nowadays. People can hack into other's computer easily.
This clip draws my attention because I am having the same problem with my msn too. I lept sending virus links to others and I don't know. I would like to thank the people who made this clip and he shows the actual things happened in our computer.

This video combines a lot of commercials. They draw people's attention in different way. I especially like the commercial of Pepsi and the commercial of the panasonic music player. There was also one is about the bear kicking the man. We are all affected by these commercial in real life. We will go to buy more Pepsi or deciding to buy the music player after seeing those commercials.

Family problems

Family is always the source of the problem. No matter money, study or career, we need to depend on family at this age. At least, I need to depend on them.
However, this is a problem to me. I can seldom do something I want. I have to fulfill everything they want me to do. There seems no freedom inside. How to communicate with my family is now a big problem to me Actually, if I know the right method to communicate with them, I can have less trouble and thus live happier without that much pressure.
Family is actually a circle; we have to stay in this circle for the rest of our lives. Even though you don’t stay with them, you cannot deny the truth that you are part of them.
We do not have a standard of how a happy family should be. In fact, there are only little family can be called “happy ”. Marriage problems, child’s disobedience, lack of money….. can also be the source of an argument. We can communicate with our friends well, but we can’t communicate with our families well. It’s because we speak in different voices when we speak with our families. Although we may not notice it, it does happen actually.

I think there is no one ever think of that monkey can also enjoy taking a hot relax spa. I can tell those money are really enjoying from their faces. We always say animals and human are different. And we try our best to prevent ourselves from being an animal although human beings are animals. In fact, we turn from monkey. Therefore, monkeys are the only animal that have the most similar things with human They are smart and emotional. Sometimes, we can’t understand each other due to different communication barriers. But we can understand monkey, and monkey can also understand us! We have different cultures, we don’t speak the same languages. What makes us communicate without anything in common?
Actually not only monkey, other animals can also communicate with us. They know when we are angry, when we are happy. Isn’t this fabulous?
They can play the roles of “friends” in our life. We can share our secrets with them without worrying will they tell to others.
Human’s life is full of betrayal, lies and depression. Only little people can find satisfaction in their life. Due to the advance technology nowadays, the chance we talk to each other face to face is smaller and smaller. Maybe after 10 years, we will be all talking to the animals at home.

Whispers and Moans

Yesterday night watched this movie, I thought it was a low quality movie at first. However, I keep thinking about this movie after watching it. It's about the life of whores. These people are being labelled as the " unwanted " ones in a peaceful society, but they still keep existing. That reflects there is an actual demand in the market, therefore these people provide service.
I don't discriminate them, at least they are earning money themselves. They provide sex service and recieve payment in return. The most notable part of this movie is how the whores treat their job. They maintain a good relationship with their "mother" , as seen in the movie that they will eat together after they finished their job. Some of them hate their job because they think that this job is not only about selling their body,but also their dignity. One of the whores rejcted her boyfriend's proposal of marriage because she afraid that she will see her previous customers in the wedding. Many people still have bias towards them. In my opinion, we should face the need of the society and should set up laws to protect these " sex workers ". Also, this movie talked about the friendship bewteen the girls. Although they are competitors when working, they support eachmn other and truly feel happy when they heard that one of the girls can finally retired from this industry.
I always want to know more about the prostitutes' life. This movie provides me a clear view of it. And it also made me think of the problems of the society. When we were young, it is our parents who told us what we can or cannot do. Obviously, a prostitute is a " cannot do " thing. After we grow up, some of us join this industry because they are eager for money. We cannot critizise them however. Frankly speaking, who doesn't want money? This movie leaves a lot of room for me to think about problems in life.

Life is a stage.

We are playing different roles everyday.

Different audiences watching downstairs, watching our moves, picking our mistakes.

Costumes can hide some parts of our body that we do not want to show.

Afraid of facing the audiences, we choose to hide behind a mask.

Therefore, we smile, we talk, we walk ,we smell, depends on our roles.

If I am a mother, I talk like a mother.

If I am a business man, I walk like a business man.

But , who am I ?

A father, a girlfriend, a customer..... names that given by others.

Am I playing the role I want? Or I am just playing the role according to other's wants.

If I am playing the role I want, why do I still care about the comment of audiences? Why can they judge me ?

Many questions without answers.

I thought I am playing my own role.

As it turns out, I am just a piece in a board game.
